About Osho
Osho's teachings defy categorization, covering everything from the
individual quest for meaning to the most urgent social and political issues
facing society today. His numerous books are not written but are transcribed into a wide range of languages from audio and video recordings of extemporaneous talks given to international
audiences over a period of 35 years. Osho has been described by the Sunday Times in London as one of the 1000 Makers of the 20th Century and by American author Tom Robbins as "The most dangerous man since Jesus Christ."
About his own work Osho has said that he is helping to create the conditions for the birth of a new kind of human being. He has often characterized this new human being as "Zorba the Buddha" -- capable both of enjoying the earthy pleasures of a Zorba the Greek and the silent serenity of a Gautam Buddha.
Running like a thread through all aspects of Osho's work is a vision that
encompasses both the timeless wisdom of the East and the highest potential of Western science and technology.
Osho is also known for his revolutionary contribution to the science of
inner transformation, with an approach to meditation that acknowledges the
accelerated pace of contemporary life. His unique

Osho Active Meditations™

are designed to first release the accumulated stresses of body and mind, so that it is easier to experience the thought-free and relaxed state of meditation.

Two autobiographical works by the author are available:
Autobiography of a Spiritually Incorrect Mystic, [publisher details of

Glimpses of a Golden Childhood [publisher details of specific language]

To facilitate the deepening of individual and collective awareness, Osho created an entire school of meditation which encompasses directed transformational therapies, bodywork, and esoteric teachings. Recognizing that there is much greater potential when people come together, Osho formed the largest communal center for personal transformation in the world in Pune, India, now named the OSHO International Meditation Resort. This enormously successful celebration of the human spirit has spawned the creation of hundreds of Osho centers, both large and intimate, all over the world.

One year before his physical death, Osho was asked what would happen to his work after he would no longer be here with us. He answered simply:

"I believe and trust absolutely in existence. If there is any truth in what I am saying, it will survive. The people who remain interested in my work will be simply carrying the torch, but not imposing anything on anyone, either by sword or bread. I will remain a source of inspiration to my people and that is what most sannyasins will feel. I want them to grow on their own. Qualities like love, around which no church can be created, like awareness, qualities which are nobody's monopoly, like celebration, rejoicing, and maintaining childlike fresh eyes.”
